I LOVE MY AFRO Tee. Sankofa Natural Hair Poetry Shirt.
Go back and get what is yours!
The back reads:
“You know what’s unique?
The curls and the kinks.
The glares and the stares.
When I rock my bold hairstyles.
I love my Afro Hair.
The Texture. The length.
The resistance. The strength.
The patience it takes for Queens like me.
I will stamp emphasis on my dreams.
You may take it to heart,
but my creator makes no mistakes.
My Afro Hair is special and unmatchable.
I embrace each strand as I detangle.
It’s a mindset thing to believe it’s not manageable.
I love my beautiful and unique Afro Hair.” – Poetry by Sophiya

Who am I and what am I about?
Proud Jamaican-British-African (It’s a thing). Born in Jamaican, raised in the UK and I am of African heritage.
Afro hair warrior. Our natural hair is beautiful and I will promote it and all glory as much as I can, wherever I can.
African empowerment. Do I need to explain this one? Study your history.
Challenging the status quo. Firstly, I don’t like being put into boxes unless I put myself in there. I mean we all have to “fit in” somewhere right?…and secondly, I certainly don’t like being told who I should or should not be and how I should or not be being. It makes sense to me.
Expressing my individuality as much as any person can. It goes without saying. I am me. Not you! For this reason, I will no longer water down myself in fear that I will not be accepted by family, friends etc.
Handmade enthusiast. Handcrafted is love. Love is all we need – so they say!
In addition, I am learning and re-learning. Then, somewhere in between, I am teaching.
While, at the same time, making a statement. With my earrings, fashion, style and my beautiful spirit.
Women’s rights- call me a feminist if you want to, it does not offend me. I am a woman and I stand by us.
